Bret Engle is a Freelance Scenic Designer and Props Master.  He is a graduate from The University of Missouri-Kansas City receiving his MFA in Scenic Design, under the tutelage of the great John Ezell. Originally from Long Beach, California. Bret earned his BA in Technical Theatre from CSULB, and has worked as a Scenic Designer, Scenic Artist, and Props Master in the Southern California area. His work has been seen at CSULB, Fullerton College, Irvine Valley College, Cal Rep, and Golden West College.

Bret made his Kansas City debut in December of 2013, designing "Clybourne Park" at the Unicorn Theatre.  Clybourne Park was followed by "The Caucasian Chalk Circle" at UMKC in October 2014 and "The Liar" in April 2015 also at UMKC.  Bret was the resident Prop Master for The Unicorn Theatre and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. He has previously been Prop Master for several of UMKC Theatre's productions, as well as for the Coterie Theatre.  Bret has designed sets and props for the Unicorn Theatre's production of "The Whale" by Samuel D. Hunter & "The Way We Get By" by Neil LaBute as well as the set for "My Old Lady" by Israel Horovitz, “A Lie of the Mind” by San Shepard, and “Skylight” by David Hare for Kansas City Actor's Theatre.

Bret is currently residing in Southern California.
